Tumbling

Tumbling at ITC is designed for athletes of all ages and experience levels, starting as young as 3 years old and progressing all the way through advanced and elite-level training. With a structured program that includes multiple levels, athletes are guided through clear, safe progressions that build a strong technical foundation while supporting long-term development.

Classes focus on proper body positions, strength, coordination, and air awareness. Athletes work on a wide range of skills—from foundational movements and basic rolls to handsprings, tucks, layouts, and beyond—while emphasizing control, consistency, and correct technique every step of the way.

As athletes advance, they are challenged with increased power, connection, and endurance, learning how to link skills and perform with confidence. Whether just starting out or refining high-level passes, tumbling at ITC provides a supportive, high-energy environment where athletes can grow, progress, and reach their full potential.

Class descriptions

Tumbling Beginner-3 yrs

This beginner tumbling class is specially designed for young children age of 3 who are just starting their movement journey. No experience is needed—just a willingness to have fun!

Athletes will explore basic skills such as rolls, jumps, balance activities, and simple coordination exercises through structured play. Classes focus on developing motor skills, body awareness, listening skills, and confidence in a safe and encouraging environment.

With age-appropriate instruction and plenty of positive reinforcement, this class helps build a strong foundation while keeping kids engaged, active, and excited to learn. Perfect for little ones who are new to tumbling, gymnastics, or group activities.

Tumbling- Beginner 4-7 yrs

This beginner tumbling class is designed for athletes ages 4–7 who are new to tumbling or still developing foundational skills. No prior experience is required.

Athletes will learn and practice basic skills such as forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, bridges, and introductory drills for round-offs. Emphasis is placed on proper technique, body control, coordination, flexibility, and strength in a fun and structured environment.

Coaches use age-appropriate progressions and positive instruction to help each athlete build confidence while learning new skills safely. This class is a great starting point for young athletes interested in cheer, gymnastics, or dance, and prepares them for advancement into higher-level tumbling classes.

Tumbling Beginner 7-10 yrs

This beginner tumbling class is designed for athletes ages 7 and up who are new to tumbling or still developing fundamental skills. No prior experience is required.

Athletes will learn core foundational skills such as forward and backward rolls, handstands, bridges, cartwheels, and introductory round-off progressions. Emphasis is placed on proper technique, strength, flexibility, coordination, and safe skill development in a structured and supportive environment.

Coaches provide clear instruction and skill progressions tailored to each athlete’s ability, helping build confidence while developing strong basics. This class is ideal for those beginning cheer, gymnastics, or dance, and serves as the foundation for advancing into intermediate tumbling levels.

Novice

This Novice tumbling class is perfect for beginners of most ages who are new to tumbling or just starting to learn foundational skills. No prior experience is required.

Athletes will be introduced to basic movements such as forward and backward rolls, handstands, bridges, cartwheels, and introductory body control drills. Emphasis is placed on building strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment.

Coaches focus on proper technique and safe skill progression to create a strong foundation for future tumbling development. This class is ideal for athletes preparing to move into intermediate-level classes, as well as those participating in cheer, dance, or gymnastics for the first time.

Intermediate 1

This Intermediate I tumbling class is designed for athletes of all ages who have mastered the basics and are ready to build strength, technique, and confidence with more advanced skills. Participants should be comfortable with foundational movements such as cartwheels, round offs, and backbends.

In this class, athletes will work on skills including back/front walkovers, front/back handsprings, and connecting multiple skills into smooth tumbling passes. Emphasis is placed on proper form, body control, flexibility, and safe progression.

Coaches provide individualized feedback to help each student refine technique and safely advance toward higher-level skills. This class is ideal for those looking to prepare for advanced tumbling, cheer, dance, or gymnastics programs.

Intermediate 2

This Intermediate II tumbling class is for athletes of all ages who have a strong foundation and are consistently performing intermediate skills with good technique. Participants should be comfortable with back and front walkovers, and have a solid, unassisted back handspring on the tumble track.

In this class, athletes will focus on advancing power, connection, and control. Skills may include front/back handsprings on the floor, back extension rolls, front punch work and learning how to properly tumble on the line (with proper progressions and spotting as needed). Emphasis is placed on strong technique, tight body positions, and safe skill progression.

Athletes will also begin linking higher-level passes and improving endurance and consistency. This class is ideal for those preparing for advanced tumbling, competitive cheer, dance, or gymnastics, and looking to take their skills to the next level.

Pre-Advanced

This Pre-Advanced tumbling class is designed for athletes who are close to advanced-level skills and ready to bridge the gap with increased power, technique, and consistency. Participants should have a strong standing back handspring and be working towards having a back tuck.

In this class, athletes will focus on developing higher-level tumbling, including multiple round offs into a back handspring, standing back handspring, standing/running tuck on tumble track and being able to perform a jump and go into a tumbling pass . Emphasis is placed on explosive power, clean technique, body control, and safe skill progression.

Athletes will work on connecting advanced passes, improving height and rebound, and building the strength and confidence needed for full advanced tumbling. This class is ideal for those preparing for advanced classes, competitive cheer, gymnastics, or dance teams.

Advanced Tumbling

Advanced is the first class of a proficient tumbling. This class is for athlete who have displayed proper execution of skills and has built a solid foundation of all fundamentals. Using all the technique they have learned in previous classes they are able to apply them correctly in the new tumbling skills. In this class they will work on skills such as the ones listed below.

Elite

This Elite tumbling class is designed for highly advanced athletes of all ages performing at a competitive or near-elite level. Participants should have mastered standing/running back handsprings, standing/running tucks, and layouts with strong technique, consistency, and control.

In this class, athletes will train and refine elite-level skills such as double fulls, specialty twisting passes, combination elite passes (e.g., whip to full, full to layout), and other high-difficulty tumbling sequences. Emphasis is placed on maximum power, height, speed, precision, and execution under pressure.

Athletes will focus on perfecting technique, increasing difficulty, and building endurance for competition-level routines. Individualized coaching is provided to safely progress advanced twisting skills and maintain peak performance. This class is ideal for competitive cheerleaders, gymnasts, and dancers aiming to perform at the highest level of tumbling.
